Danny Brennan, from Shannon, was the top-performing individual golfer while competing with Bethune-Cookman men’s team at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University.  The two-day, 36-hole event, took place at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida, USA.
Danny began his golfing career with the juniors at Shannon Golf Club where he was coached and encouraged by Sean Cleary and the late Eugene Logan. From there he attended the Darren Clarke Golf School in Antrim.
In recent years he has been developing his game in the US, first as a student-athlete at the University of Toledo and now as a senior with the Wildcats at Bethune–Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
After firing off rounds of 75 and 76, Danny topped the leaderboard with a collective 7-over par 151 scorecard. His opening round 3-over 75 helped Brennan on his way to finishing the tournament three strokes ahead of second place competitor Alejandro Restrepo of South Dakota State University.
