On Sunday 1st October Cratloe GAA Club will host their 16th Annual Dog Show, originally organised to help towards the cost of building the Michael Murphy memorial sports hall.

The event has been a great success from the off due to the great work and know-how of Michael Prior of the Munster Dog Training and Behaviour School and members of the hall development committee at the time.

For the last few years, three branches of the GAA in Cratloe; the Minor, Senior and Camogie Clubs have worked together to ensure the continued success of this event for the benefit of all.

There are 20 dog classes on the day including; Prettiest Bitch, Dog most like their Owner and Best Fancy Dress, for which every entry is presented with a rosette! The Robert Manning Perpetual Trophy, sponsored by the Munster Dog School, is presented annually to the Overall Best Show Dog.

Cratloe’s little stars, the U6 hurlers, will kick off events with a mini-blitz against neighbouring clubs at 12 noon.  There will also be plenty of side events including favourites such as the long puck, sliotar thru the hole and golf putting.

This year a new attraction is inflatable darts which we’re sure will prove to be great fun. Other attractions for the kids will be the bouncy castles, face painting, pony rides and the always popular ice cream van!

For those looking for something a bit more substantial, there will be a BBQ serving burgers and hotdogs, while tea, coffee and homemade baked goods will be available in the tea room.

Cratloe GAA Club would like to thank their many sponsors for their support. This year Shauna Kerin of Dapper Doodles Dog Grooming in Sixmilebridge is the main doggie classes sponsor.  The club is grateful to the many local businesses and individuals that continue to sponsor spot prizes and provide donations year in year out.

The event would not be possible without the help of volunteers and committee members, the club is very grateful to you all. A big welcome awaits all who travel to Cratloe on Sunday, it promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family, including the dog! Let’s hope a little sunshine makes an appearance too!
