After 26 years serving the Shannon community, Fr Tom Ryan has departed for a new challenge as the parish priest in his native Ennis. While he will only ever be a short distance away, Fr Tom said his goodbyes on the parish website.
“This is a new beginning for me as I take on new responsibilities in the Cathedral. I take this opportunity to say a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to you the people of Shannon, and to the many people from neighbouring parishes who worship in Shannon.
I move from this Parish with the spirit of God in my heart and with His strength in my body to go wherever He is leading me. I trust in the Holy Spirit and I have a deep love of Jesus which I nourish by celebrating Mass each day. This love of Jesus keeps me going.
I am grateful for the wonderful support, encouragement and blessings which I have received from so many people. You all have made my twenty-six years here very happy and fulfilling.
I humbly ask forgiveness for any hurt which I have caused. I ask for your prayers not just for me, but for all Priests, especially for those who are beginning new assignments. I thank all who organised the Mass of Thanksgiving and I am deeply grateful to all those who came to that Mass.
I really appreciate the kindness and goodness of so many people. I wish Fr. Arnold, Sr. Jo, Canon Brendan and Fr. Francis Xavier every blessing, as they continue to lead us all in the faith in this part of God’s kingdom here on earth.
