Preparations have begun for the annual sleep-out fundraiser organised by the Midwest branch of the Simon Community.

This year’s sleep out will take place in the autumn under the banner ‘Rise Together’, a recognition that tackling Ireland’s homelessness crisis cannot be achieved without a combined effort from individuals and organisations across society.

With 43 adults now homeless in Clare, and child homelessness rising dramatically, Midwest Simon is predicting that the numbers will increase later in the year.

According to Jackie Bonfield, general manager of Midwest Simon, the sleep out returns once again to Thomond Park where it will be hosted by Munster Rugby hooker Duncan Casey.

Participants will have the opportunity to take an intimate tour of the stadium accompanied by Duncan and special guests who will provide music and entertainment.

Ireland’s homelessness crisis is worsening every week. This means that service providers are forced to stretch budgets further than ever before.

Last year’s sleep out raised over €27,000 of vital funds which allowed Mid West Simon to assist record numbers of the most vulnerable individuals in the region.
