Backballer inventor Noel Marshall is still coming to terms with defeat in the recent white collar boxing event to raise funds for the charity, Shannon’s Fight Against Cancer.

Although he concedes that his opponent on the night was the better boxer, Noel left the ring with his pride bruised and good looks intact.
Shannon has been home to the Cork-native and his wife Nelita since 2004. In recent years he has gone on to invent and refine the Backballer, a dual mounted foam rolling accessory to massage all the major muscle groups in the body.
It is said that necessity is the mother of invention and in Noel’s case that is certainly true. Having endured many years crippled with lower back and hip pain, he began thinking about making a device that would ease the pain.
It is a true testimony of the Backballer’s worth that today Noel is pain-free and continues to enjoy a number of sports including running, cycling, a bit of hurling training and more recently his boxing escapade.
He is also a great supporter of local clubs with generous sponsorship. A hard worker, sound man and a great character, Noel Marshall is deserving of every success.
