Shannon Musical Society will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a production of hit musical ‘The Wiz’ in February 2018.

Telling the classic tale of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with a mix of rock, gospel, and soul music, this is the timeless tale of Dorothy’s adventures through the Land of Oz with her friends the Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man.
SMS is also delighted to welcome the return of director Jessica Bray, Pamela McGlynn (choreographer), and musical director Carmel Griffin for this fun, modern musical that can be enjoyed by all audiences.
The official launch night takes place in The Goalpost Bar at Wolfe Tones GAA Club on Tuesday 12th September.
All are welcome to find out more about the society and the production, meet the committee, sign up to be a member and collect audition material.
Auditions will take place on Sunday 24th September in Bay K9 on Shannon Industrial Estate. Anyone who would like information on joining the society should take the opportunity to meet members of the crew at the Shannon Festival on Sunday 10th September from 3-4pm.
Jessica Bray will be attending the Festival to hold a free fun-filled drama workshop focusing on character development, audition technique, improvisation and lots more.
Choreographer Pamela McGlynn will also host ‘The Wiz’ dance classes for kids at the Shannon Festival for all those future stars who love to sing and dance.
Meanwhile, Shannon Musical Society will hold their 40th-anniversary gala dinner dance at Bunratty Castle Hotel on Saturday, November 4th.
