International recruitment consultants SSA Group has opened a new office in Shannon led by local man Mike Lee who has been appointed director of the business in Ireland.

As specialists in construction and engineering recruitment, SSA deal with professional, permanent positions from graduate to senior management and director levels. Working with all the major construction and civil engineering companies nationwide, the company has plans to extend its success into other industry sectors as it grows its business.

Mike Lee is committed to expanding the business and plans to recruit additional staff this year in Shannon to service regional demand while also supporting the company’s expansion in Dublin and internationally.

Commenting on the new venture, Mike said, “Shannon is an excellent location for SSA to grow its operations and I am proud to be expanding the business locally. I felt it was important to have Shannon as our head office, a place we can build our business from and introduce additional staff locally as we continue to grow.”

As a native of Shannon, Mike attended St Patrick’s Comprehensive School before completing a BSc in Construction Management from Waterford IT in 1992.  Most of his career has been spent working with major construction companies, including six years with John Sisk & Son, prior to joining SSA.

Prior to establishing a Shannon office, SSA Recruitment operated from Dublin’s Harcourt Street where three additional staff are employed. According to Mike Lee, “Our new office will allow the business to grow locally, supporting industry in the Midwest region and throughout Munster and Connacht, while servicing our operations in Dublin.

“SSA is one of the chosen recruitment partners to the Irish construction and civil engineering industry. The company provides services to major construction projects now visible on the Dublin skyline in addition to many of the significant regional projects. It also provides a significant number of the management team currently delivering the LUAS Cross City Project in Dublin, the Gort-Tuam Motorway, New Ross By-Pass and major projects in Dublin Airport and Dublin Port.

Mike believes that easy access from Shannon Airport, coupled with excellent roads infrastructure and investment in the latest IT and video conferencing technology, means that SSA Ireland is well positioned to assist with the Group’s plans for further expansion into the UK and mainland Europe.

SSA Ireland began the process of expansion in the last month, already it has generated significant interest both locally and nationally for Junior Recruitment Consultant positions which they are currently reviewing.

According to Mike Lee, “We are particularly proud to have played a part in assisting the return to Ireland of construction and engineering professionals as the industry recovered over the last three years.  Nationally we were one of the first businesses to offer opportunities to those who had emigrated to the UK, Canada, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand who want to come back to Ireland and this continues to be a major part of our business.”

In conclusion, he said, “I would also like to thank those who assisted in making the transition to our new office a success, from our solicitors, Pendred & Co., through to all the companies who worked hard in making it possible.  “We are delighted to be operating from the new office in Dolmen House close to Shannon Town Centre and grateful to both Risteard and Gearoid of Crimmins Howard Solicitors who have made us feel very welcome in our new location.”
