Good Moos for the children of 4th class in St Conaire’s who won €500 for their school in Skycourt Shannon’s competition to design and colour their own pet calf.

In all six local schools took part in the good moos initiative with pupils showcasing their creativity as part of SkyCourt’s ‘Arts for Schools’ competition. Those taking part were Stonehall NS, Gaelscoil Donncha Rua, Scoil Na Maighdine Mhuire, St. John’s NS, St Tola’s NS and St Conaire’s NS
Each school was given a plain fibreglass calf and two weeks to plan, design and decorate their Moo Masterpiece. For inspiration, the schools looked at their own identity and surrounding environments.
One school took the opportunity to celebrate its 50th anniversary while others highlighted activities at their school. Pupils at St Tola’s even came up with a Flying Cow complete with aircraft wings!Cross-curricular activities even saw the calves being used for history, geography and English lessons!
The finished calves were returned to SkyCourt Shannon and put on display for shoppers and visitors to enjoy. Naturally, the children were excited to work on such a unique project.
Additionally, the shopping centre display added amazing fun and atmosphere to the centre, which shoppers have commented on during recent weeks.
SkyCourt Shannon was delighted to showcase the artistic talents of the local schools, allowing the ‘Moo Masterpieces’ to be proudly displayed as a celebration of the creativity ingrained in the region.
